Job duties and responsibilities
The Steel Fixer will be responsible for fabricating and installing steel reinforcement structures, such as rebar, mesh, and cages, to reinforce concrete structures. You will
- Cut, bend, and shape steel bars and mesh using manual or automated tools and equipment
- Install steel reinforcement structures within concrete forms, ensuring they are correctly positioned, aligned, and securely tied or welded
- Collaborate with other colleagues, such as concrete workers, carpenters, etc, to coordinate work and ensure proper integration of steel reinforcement with concrete structures
- Follow safety protocols and regulations to maintain a safe work environment and prevent accidents or injuries
- Assist with other construction tasks and duties as needed

Job duties and responsibilities
The Groundworker will be responsible for performing various tasks related to ground work and construction projects, including excavation, site preparation, installation of drainage systems, concrete work, landscaping, and other related tasks. You will:
- Perform excavation and site preparation tasks, including clearing vegetation, digging, and grading
- Operate and maintain heavy machinery, such as excavators, loaders, and compactors, safely and efficiently
- Install and maintain drainage systems, including pipes, culverts, and catch basins
- Lay foundations, footings, and concrete slabs according to project specifications

- Assisting qualified plumbers in installing, repairing and maintaining mechanical and domestic plumbing systems.
- Carrying and delivery of materials.
- Maintaining a clean and tidy workspace, complying with all healthy and safety regulations.
- Attending college 1 day a week.
Experience and skills
- Previous experience or knowledge in plumbing or related area is advantageous but not essential.
- Practical experience is preferred, for example; experience with hand tools, power tools or general site work.
- Basic maths skills to aid with measurements and calculations for a variety of plumbing tasks.
- Ability to demonstrate a strong drive for learning and developing new skills.

Summary
The Construction Site Traffic Marshall plays a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient movement of vehicles and machinery on-site. The role involves directing site traffic, managing deliveries, and ensuring the safety of workers, visitors, and the public in and around the construction area.
Key responsibilities
Vehicle Management
- Direct and guide vehicles entering and exiting the site to ensure safe and efficient traffic flow.
- Supervise the movement and parking of construction vehicles and equipment.
Safety compliance
- Ensure compliance with site safety regulations and protocols.
- Monitor and enforce pedestrian safety measures to prevent accidents.
Communication
- Use hand signals, radios, or other communication tools to direct drivers and machinery opera-tors.
- Liaise with site management, delivery drivers, and contractors to coordinate deliveries and traffic schedules.
Access control
- Maintain and manage access points to prevent unauthorised entry to the construction site.
- Record deliveries and vehicle movements in a logbook or digital system.
Inspections
- Conduct regular checks to identify hazards or obstructions that could disrupt traffic flow.
- Report any issues or safety concerns to site management.
Signage and barriers
- Set up, maintain, and remove traffic signs, barriers, and cones as needed.
- Ensure clear signage is in place to guide vehicles and pedestrians safely.
Key skills and responsibilities
- Valid Traffic Marshall/Banksman certification (required).
- Valid CSCS Card
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations, particularly related to construction sites.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and in all weather conditions.
- Attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Physical fitness and stamina to perform outdoor duties for extended periods.
Desirable skills:
• Experience working on construction sites or in a similar role.
• Basic understanding of construction operations and machinery.
Working conditions:
• Outdoor environment exposed to various weather conditions.
• Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) must be worn at all times.
• May involve long hours, including early mornings or weekends, depending on site operations.
