It can be challenging to figure out and keep up with technology when products and online services are evolving so rapidly. Our digital inclusion service is here to help you make sense of the internet and technology, and make the most of digital tools that will make your life easier. There‘s a whole range of free, confidential support and services that we can connect you to, provided by us and our specialist partners.
We’ve partnered with Barclays to improve digital confidence and skills for all SNG customers. Using their free online learning platform – Digital Wings – you have the opportunity to learn something new or build on your existing digital skills. You don't need to be a Barclays customer to use Digital Wings.
What courses are available?
Digital Wings provides online training courses, helping you learn your way and at your own pace. Digital Wings aims to boost your digital skills and confidence and all courses are free. Choose courses to suit your current level - whether starting out with essential digital skills, building on your existing skills, or looking for something more advanced, there’s something for everyone.
There are over 75 modules to choose from some including getting started online, staying safe online, smartphone and tablet basics, building your skills with Google or Microsoft 365 applications, how to avoid online scams and much more!
How do I get started?
You can register for a digital wings account and access the courses through this link: Register | Barclays Digital Wings (uk.barclays)
You will need an email address to register and your unique code to register your account is: SNG
To log back in once you've registered, visit Log in | Barclays Digital Wings (uk.barclays) or search Digital Wings' on your app store and download the app to use on the go.
This is a digital training programme for customers who have little to no experience online. It provides bespoke 1 to 1 or group session training with a coach tailored to that individuals requirements. It covers the basics of getting started with using email, setting up a My Network Homes account, but other modules could include:
- Online safety
- Digital for accessibility
- Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, PowerPoint
- Canva essentials
- Smartphone photography
- Accessing Government services
- Building your online reputation
- Being your own boss
- Working in a remote business
- Managing health and wellbeing online
- Everyday AI skills
How do I sign up?
Please get in touch and ask for the Digital Inclusion team or email us at fidi@sng.org.uk so we can sign you up for the Cosmic programme.
To help people who are new to the internet to get connected online, we have a limited number of free SIM cards for SNG customers. The SIM cards come with 20GB data, plus free calls and texts every month for six months.
SIM cards can be used in a sim enabled tablet, laptop, phone, dongle or mobile hotspot device.
How do I get a sim?
Please get in touch to request a free sim and we will arrange for this.
If you’re struggling to access digital equipment needed to get online, we may be able to support you to find free or low cost devices, including laptops, printers, tablets, Chromebooks, iPads and smartphones.
