Local Panel

As SNG, we’ve been working to combine our engagement offer using your feedback so all customers get the best possible opportunities. We recently announced our new SNG framework, which you can click here to learn more about. We will continue running our Local Panels until the end of 2024, while we appoint customers to these new panels and start training to get the panels up and running.

Our Local Panels are part of our overall governance structure. This means they link directly to the Network Homes Board. Local Panel Members are our critical friend monitoring service delivery and performance in your area. You’ll look at the bigger picture and challenge performance right across the business.

The panel meets four times a year to discuss a range of topics. You’d be expected to prepare for meetings by reading papers and making a positive contribution to discussions.

I got involved because of my work in social housing. I felt it was important to share my experience and support residents and customers with the important work they do by working alongside Network Homes. Being involved, I’ve been able to work with Panel Members to shape services, listening and hearing the voices of Network residents and customers and providing feedback support where I can In service delivery.

Hand on heart Network Homes live up to their award for being in the top 100 company’s to work for.​ Volunteering has given me so many opportunities from training in Mary Gober and meetings to help make decisions for future projects. Network Homes do so much for the wider community and I’m really excited to see future projects develop and will be great to be a part of that.

I feel the Panel is beginning to make real changes and introduce things which will have a big impact and make a difference to Network Homes. ​I would recommend anyone to join the Panel. It’s your Housing Association, so join the Panel and say it! I still enjoy meeting new members ​who are glad to give up their time and share their views with others. Meet the Local Panel Chairs for London and Hertford!

How do the panels work?

After completing an induction and training programme, you’re be appointed to the panel for three years (with an option to remain on the panel for up to nine years). You spend about four hours, every three months, doing this role. Panellists are reliable and attend meetings regularly while contributing to panel conversations and appreciating other people’s opinions.

We give ongoing training to improve skills in areas such as communication, report writing and statistical analysis. You should be willing to learn about social housing – our role in the community, how we’re regulated and how performance is managed.
