Day of fun for the children of Robinson Court
25 April 2019
For Easter, Network Homes arranged a day of fun for the children at Robinson Court, a Supported Temporary Accommodation for homeless families in Harrow, North West London.
For the day, we wanted to get the children out of their rooms during the holidays and give them the chance to play together. We arranged a number of arts and crafts activities for the children including decorating their own egg and a colouring competition. The winner of the competition received sweets and had their picture displayed on the entrance noticeboard.
While the children played, we shared a coffee with the parents and had the opportunity to chat with them and hear their concerns. This was great because we were able to break the ice and get to know them more. The parents have even agreed to keep in touch and maybe arrange a day for the children to play together again after school. getting them out of their flat and mixing with other children and getting to know each other.
The day was a great success as it got the children and parents out of their flats, and gave them an opportunity to get to know each other. We plan to hold a similar event for families over the summer holiday.
