Network Homes and East Herts Council mark key milestone in delivery of 102 affordable homes in Sele Farm

12 April 2022

New residents will be moving into their brand-new homes soon as Network Homes and East Herts Council mark a key milestone in the delivery of 102 affordable homes in Sele Farm, Hertford.

David Gooch, Network Homes’ Executive Director of Development, and Cllr Peter Boylan, East Herts Executive Member for Neighbourhoods, officially opened a new marketing suite at the development in Thieves Lane on Monday 11 April.

Our 102 affordable properties are a part of a Section 106 agreement with Croudace Homes and will be a mixture of one and two-bedroom apartments, and two, three, and four-bedroom houses. Seventy-one homes will be for Affordable Rent, providing genuinely affordable, high-quality homes for those on lower incomes, and 31 homes for Shared Ownership, helping people to buy a new property with a lower deposit. Residents will be able to move into their new homes from April 2022 to June 2024.

The development forms part of a wider scheme of 254 properties called Blakemore Manor which is the first major extension to Sele Farm for many years. It reflects the adoption of the East Herts District Plan in 2018, and assessment of projected local housing needs for the next 10 to 15 years.

Conferenceoct2021 024

I’m really pleased to be marking this important milestone in the delivery of these affordable homes for people in Hertford. It shows our continued commitment to investing in the Sele Farm neighbourhood area and supports us in our strategic aim of building homes in East Hertfordshire for those in housing need.

David Gooch, Network Homes’ Executive Director of Development

Cllr Peter Boylan, said: “East Herts Council is committed to working with Network Homes and others to deliver much-needed, high-quality affordable homes to rent and buy as good quality housing is important to the health and wellbeing of our residents. The council’s commitment to affordable housing, whether social rent, affordable rent or for purchase, forms the backbone of our new housing strategy to be presented to Council on 11 May and is supported by the Sele Neighbourhood Plan. I look forward to welcoming local people and their families into their new homes over the coming months.”
