Apply to be the customer trustee for our Community Foundation

At SNG, we’re more than bricks and mortar - our social purpose is central to what we do. We want to deliver more for our customers and invest in the communities where we have homes. That’s why we’re setting up a Community Foundation to deliver £100m of investment across our communities over the next decade. A Community Foundation is a charitable organisation that is created with the purpose of helping to improve the quality of life for people and their communities.     

We’re developing our thinking and strategy for the new foundation during 2024/25 and co-creating this with our new trustees, colleagues, customers and wider partners. Customers are at the heart of everything we do - and the development of our Community Foundation is no different. Which is why we're looking for a customer to become a trustee. Applications are open until Wednesday 4 September at 5pm!

About the role

As a customer trustee, you will sit on the Board of Trustees (a group of individuals responsible for leading a charity) and will work with us to shape the Community Foundation, and once it is launched, help with how it is run. In your unique position as an SNG customer, you'll be able to offer valuable insights and understanding, and use your passion for helping our communities thrive to shape the strategic direction of the charity.

There are some conditions that you will need to meet to be eligible and you'll need to have spare time to commit to the role. The amount of time you would need to commit will vary, but we would estimate around 10 to 15 days per year as a rough guideline. Whilst this is a voluntary role, expenses will be covered to help you fulfil your duties. This can be for things such as travel costs, accommodation and childcare. 

We recently held a webinar about this role for everyone who had expressed an interest in being a customer trustee in our Community Foundation customer survey.

The deadline for applications is 5pm on Wednesday 4 September. If your application is successful, you will progress to the next stage which is an interview for the role. Interviews will take place between early to mid-September.
