By Deborah Whyte, Scheme Manager
I’m the Scheme Manager at our older persons scheme Knightleas Court in Cricklewood, London. Some Knightleas Court residents were born overseas and often feel disconnected from their countries of origin. I wanted to help them stay connected with their loved ones and their countries of origin so I recently referred three residents for our digital equipment grant. I have three very happy Knightleas Court residents now as the referral was successful and they were recently awarded new laptops through this grant!
Our digital equipment grant is one of the many ways we can support customers to get online. If you’re struggling to access digital equipment or make the most of online services online, we may be able to help. We can connect you with a range of free support and services, and may be able to support you to find free or low-cost devices or apply for a grant to gift a device for you. For more details, please email fidi@sng.org.uk or call us and ask to be put in touch with the Digital Inclusion team.
The residents at Knightleas Court who were gifted new devices are all looking forward to using them to follow news channels and website to keep up to date with events in their countries of origin. They really appreciate the support and it’s great that this grant has allowed them to connect more with family and loved ones from across the world and closed the distance between the residents and the places they cherish so much!
